Helios Design Group Announces Carol Marsh’s retirement

Co-founder and partner, Carol Marsh, has retired from practicing architecture and has bid farewell to Helios Design Group. She will now serve as Partner Emeritus with the firm.

Marsh officially exited this past summer and has re-located to Maine. A native of California, she will be spending winters in Sonoma County, closer to family.

"I miss my Helios people," she said during a recent interview. "I loved working as a team, and especially solving design problems with Chris [Hosford]. I had the opportunity to train a great number of architects starting out and give them their first chance in the field."

Marsh also enjoyed getting to know and working with "a lot of terrific clients." One of her favorite aspects of residential architecture was "the challenge of helping people to improve their houses to improve their lives." Marsh also relished the opportunity to work in different styles from modern to traditional.

"I loved the early planning stages in projects and taking an impossible situation and grinding away until you see the solution," she said. Marsh will use her architectural skills in a new way as a board member of the food coop in Norway, ME. They are planning an expansion and Marsh says "it will be fun to use my skills for the good of the community."

HDG hosted a retirement party in her honor at Tres Gatos in June.
