Tobacco Barn
Our clients wanted a spacious, light-filled, and contemporary addition to their classic New England home, inspired by the Kentucky tobacco barns of homeowner’s youth. In the existing house we rearranged the interior, adding new bathrooms, laundry, and study. The addition houses a kitchen designed for high octane cooking and plenty of guests, with a walk-in pantry plus tons of storage kept low to allow clear views. Connection to the outdoors and new landscape was important - we added a 12’ wide by 9’ set of glass doors that pocket away completely in good weather. The master bedroom and bath above are reached by a bridge through the glass walled connector. We used teak for the shower floor and concrete-topped vanity for a serene and light bathroom.
